Glossary of Terms

Materials

Medical-grade silicone — A non-porous, hypoallergenic silicone grade safe for repeated intimate use; the material standard we require across all product categories.

TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) — A softer, skin-like material commonly used in companion dolls; slightly porous and requires more careful care than silicone.

ABS plastic — A rigid, fully non-porous plastic often used for internal motor housings or firmer product components.

Shore hardness — A numeric scale (e.g. "Shore 00" or "Shore A") describing how firm or soft a silicone/TPE material is; lower numbers are softer.

Product types

Air-pulse toy — A non-penetrative product that uses gentle pressure-wave technology for external stimulation, rather than direct vibration contact.

Wand massager — A vibrating product, typically larger, designed for both external and broader-area stimulation.

Bullet vibe — A small, discreet, typically single-function vibrating product, popular for beginners and travel.

Stroker — A men's product designed to simulate stimulation via an internal textured sleeve.

Prostate massager — A curved, internally-designed product built specifically to reach and stimulate the prostate gland.

Care & safety terms

Body-safe — An informal (not legally regulated) term meaning a material is non-porous and free of harmful additives like phthalates; always verify the actual named material rather than relying on this label alone.

IPX7 waterproof rating — Indicates a product can be fully submerged in water, common for easy-clean silicone products.

Water-based / silicone-based lubricant — See our full Lubricant 101 guide for compatibility by material.

RTA (Restricted To Adults) — A voluntary content label used to help parental-control software identify and filter adult websites.
